    Mild steel (for easiest welding) with a light chrome coating,coating is light enough that it does not have to be removed for MIG or TIG welding,it can even be brazed.         Many people use these bungs with stainless steel tubing with no problem because the bung is much thicker than the tubing it works well.     CORRECTLY DIMENSIONED
    -thick enough so it won't warp when welding, CORRECT LENGTH so that the sensor is in the exhaust stream but not too far -,so it does not obstruct flow, this is important as most of our customers are tuners and want max performance.Beware some other bungs or nuts are to thin, they will warp and leak or ruin the threads and they are a big pain to weld to round exhaust pipe.
